Rotaheat wins Marine & Hydro Energy Rushlight Award 2018-19
Rotaheat’s clean heat technology was recognised at the 2019 Rushlight awards, winning the Marine & Hydro Energy award.
Rushlight’s award recognises how Rotaheat’s innovative technology increases the economic viability of hydro energy projects and enables the delivery of clean heat solutions. The technology converts motive power directly to thermal energy in the form of heated fluids with zero carbon emissions. Rotaheat’s technology avoids the inefficient generation of electricity to deliver ~20% more useful energy in the form of heat and reduces capital installation costs.
The Rotaheat technology benefits both customers and society through enabling the generation of inexpensive clean heat from natural renewable resources, including marine and hydro, and consequently displacing carbon emissions associated with the combustion of fossil fuels.
Customers considering exploiting hydro resources benefit through
- reduced CapEx costs by avoiding the cost of an electrical subsystem and DNO grid connection,
- increased energy yield relative to a comparable electrical subsystem used to generate heat,
- displacing the cost of fossil fuels used to create heat and
- consequently enabling a shorter payback period.

- reducing the need to increase electrical grid capacity,
- displacing carbon emissions from the direct use of fossil fuels to produce heat and
